Frequently Asked Questions
Why won't a barcode scan?
Make sure the barcode is well-lit, flat, and fully inside the frame. MedTranslate AR supports UPC-A, EAN-13, Code-128, and QR codes. If a barcode still won't scan, you can type the medication name manually or paste in the label text.
How do I change the language?
Go to Settings → Language to choose from any of the 11 supported languages. Your selection applies to all translations, summaries, and read-aloud audio.
What's the difference between Grade 5 and Grade 8 reading levels?
These control how simplified the language is in your results. Grade 5 uses shorter sentences and simpler words, while Grade 8 provides slightly more detail and medical terminology. You can switch anytime from the scan screen.
Is my scan history private?
Yes. Your scan history and saved results are stored locally on your device. We don't sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I use High Contrast Mode?
Yes — enable it in Settings → Accessibility → High Contrast Mode for improved visibility throughout the app.
Does MedTranslate AR replace medical advice?
No. MedTranslate AR simplifies medication label information to help you better understand it, but it is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist about your medications.
