How we use it: This information is processed by our AI service to provide simplified translations in your preferred language. The processed results are stored locally on your device.

2.3 Device Storage

What we collect: We use your device's local storage (AsyncStorage) to save your scan history, saved translations, app settings, and language preferences.

How we use it: This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you choose to export or share it.

2.4 Microphone Data

What we collect: We may access your device's microphone for the read-aloud translation feature.

How we use it: Audio is processed locally on your device and is not stored or transmitted.

2.5 App Usage Data

What we collect: Basic app usage metrics such as which features you use and how often.

How we use it: This helps us improve the app's functionality and user experience.

3. Third-Party Services

3.1 Groq AI Services

We use Groq's AI services to process prescription text and generate translations.

• Data transmission: Prescription text (not images) is sent to Groq's servers for processing.
• Data retention: Groq does not store your data permanently. Their privacy policy is available at groq.com/privacy.

3.2 Open Food Facts and UPC Item DB

For barcode lookups, we may query Open Food Facts and UPC Item DB databases. These services are used solely to identify product information. No personal data is shared with these services.

• Local storage: Your scan history, saved translations, and settings are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
• Cloud storage: We do not store your data on our servers.
• Data deletion: You can delete all app data at any time through the Settings screen ("Clear all data" option).
• Third-party retention: Our AI service provider (Groq) does not retain your data after processing.

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information:

• All data transmitted to third-party services is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
• Local data is stored securely on your device.

• Access: View the data stored on your device through the app's History and Saved screens.
• Delete: Remove all app data at any time through Settings.
• Opt-out: Disable camera or microphone access through your device settings.
• Export: You can manually copy or screenshot translations for your records.
